Phew, where to start? Making a recording is a much bigger job than many people realise, so hopefully these pages will help you to prepare for the event:

The Process

Making a recording falls into 4 major steps:

  1. Pre-production - this is where you, the band or artist, write and prepare the song(s) prior to hitting the studio. More info here: The Rough Guide to Pre-Production
  2. Tracking (recording) - the process of putting mics on things, capturing the performances of the band and getting "the sound". More...
  3. Mixing - combining all the sounds captured during tracking into a pleasant listening experience. More...
